Summary
The Department seeks an outstanding scholar of contemporary (post-1945) literature and culture to join a dynamic team of specialists in developing the Department’s profile of research and teaching in this area.
Details
The successful candidate will have an outstanding record of research and publication for career stage and show exceptional promise as a leading scholar in the field of contemporary British, American and/or Anglophone literature. S/he will be expected to engage in and develop research projects in literature and culture of the late 20th– and 21st-century; to develop interdisciplinary academic networks; to secure research funding and to develop the impact of research; and to attract and supervise PhD candidates. The candidate will contribute to the development of the department’s new MA in Contemporary Literature, Culture and Theory (to begin in 2013-2014) and design and deliver teaching for undergraduate and other postgraduate taught programmes (particularly the MA in English 1850 to the Present). The Department particularly welcomes candidates who are open to interdisciplinary collaborations, and collaborations with partners outside the College. All areas of expertise within the post-1945 period will be considered. Candidates may have research expertise in any of the following: post-1945 British fiction; contemporary poetry; experimental literatures; literature and its relationship to material, digital cultures and visual cultures; graphic narrative; 21st-century literature and theory.

Salary
The appointment will be made, dependent on relevant qualifications, within the Grade 6 – 7 scale, currently £31,020 to £45,486 per annum, plus £2,323 per annum London Allowance.
