IAAS Annual Conference
Hosted at a different third-level institution each year, the IAAS conference takes place in the Spring, and provides the opportunity for scholars to come together to share their research and make new professional connections and networks.
Well-known for its spirit of collegiality, openness, and inclusivity, the conference is open to scholars from across the world and across academic disciplines working under the broad umbrella of American Studies and Latin American Studies: panels and papers on history, literature, art, film and media, politics, visual culture, material culture, and much more, are all welcome.
The IAAS annual conference features panels, roundtables, workshops, and keynote lectures
by acclaimed international scholars.
Important Information for the 2026 IAAS Conference
REGISTRATION – Costs will be €60 full and €40 concession.

CONFERENCE DINNER – The cost will be €30 for two courses and a drink (includes
gratuity). Draft Menu (see email attachment from 15.4.26) Register your place at the

other hotels and B&Bs in Portrush, which is just one stop away on the train (there is a
train holt at the bottom of the campus entrance).

SOCIAL PROGRAMME – A possible field trip to the Giants Causeway on the Saturday
afternoon is available if anyone is interested – please let me know as soon as possible
(and by Monday 20th April) for planning purposes.
CURRENCY – Finally, just to confuse you if you are not from the island of Ireland, the IAAS
website will be taking registrations in Euros, but the conference is in Northern Ireland
which works in UK pounds, and if you require a visa to travel it should be a UK visa or
allow travel to the UK if arriving via a Republic of Ireland airport.
