The Galway American Studies Forum was officially launched on 27 September in NUI Galway’s Moore Institute. The setting was appropriate for a project which hopes to see collaboration across the humanities in NUI Galway. 

 

Established in April 2012, the Galway American Studies Forum brings together postgraduate students and staff on a monthly basis for open discussions, readings, and guest speaker events. 

 

The Forum was officially launched by Professor Sean Ryder who spoke of the importance of providing an outlet that fosters the strong American Studies interest in NUI Galway. Clair Sheehan of the University of Limerick was also present to welcome American Studies scholars in Galway to the upcoming IAAS annual conference. 

 

The Galway American Studies Forum is kindly supported by EXPLORE, through the Bright Ideas Initiative and the Students’ Project Fund. EXPLORE fosters staff and student collaborations for innovative, sustainable projects.
