The IAAS 50th Anniversary Early Career Essay Prize The Early-Career Essay Prize will recognise innovative research and writing that contributes significantly to the field of American Studies. The competition is open to Early-Career scholars who graduated with a PhD in their field during or after 2013. The following rules apply:
Authors must be members of the IAAS, and normally resident in Ireland or N. Ireland. The closing date for entries is July 31st. The prize-winner(s) will receive €300 and the winning essay will be considered for publication in the Irish Journal of American Studies. |
The IAAS 50th Anniversary Doctoral Research Prize The Doctoral Research Prize will recognise an excellent piece of research scholarship with the potential to make an important intervention in the field of American Studies. The competition is open to doctoral scholars who have not yet defended their dissertation. The following rules apply:
Authors must be members of the IAAS, and normally resident in Ireland or N. Ireland. The closing date for entries is July 31st. The prize-winner(s) will receive €200 and the winning essay will be considered for publication in the Irish Journal of American Studies. This year we are delighted to include a second, ‘honourable mention’ prize of €100, thanks to a generous donation to the prize fund. |
WTM Riches Essay Prize The WTM Riches Essay Prize was established in 2004 to recognise and reward high-quality work being done by younger scholars in many areas of American Studies, including history, political science, literature, film and media studies, geography, the visual arts, architecture, and cultural and critical theory. The competition is open to undergraduates and students in the first year of research or taught postgraduate programmes. The following rules apply:
